ESPA/NSRF program for e-shop development with 90% subsidy

A new EU-funded ESPA/NSRF subsidy program for e-shop development launched on June 22, 2022.

The program is called “Digital Tools for SMEs” (Ψηφιακά Εργαλεία ΜμΕ). It is funded by the Recovery and Resilience Facility as part of the “Digital Transformation of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises” action.

The subsidy amount depends on each business’s size, defined by the number of employees. Eligible costs range from €1,000 to €20,000, with an aid intensity of 90%.

What are the eligibility requirements for this subsidy program?

The requirements for joining the e-shop subsidy program include company details and a description of eligible expenses.
The program targets small and medium-sized enterprises that employed staff under dependent employment terms from 01.01.2021 through 31.12.2021, or businesses established later in 2021 under specific conditions.
Potential beneficiaries are grouped into categories that also determine the subsidy amount for each business, based on the Annual Work Units (AWU / ΕΜΕ) they provided during that period.
The new ESPA/NSRF program for funding e-shop development and online promotion covers most private businesses that meet, among others, all of the following conditions:

  • They have a registered office or branch in Greek territory with a Greek VAT number (ΑΦΜ).
  • They are active on the date they submit the funding application to the program.
  • They were founded/established before 01.01.2022.
  • They are a legal entity (S.A., Ltd, general or limited partnership, P.C., Social Cooperative Enterprise, Cooperative, or Sole Proprietorship) and keep single-entry or double-entry books.

Which expenses are covered by this subsidy?

Under this subsidy, a range of costs related to building and promoting your online store is covered:

  • E-shop development.
  • Promotion through digital marketing.
  • Warehouse management applications (WMS).
  • Cloud platforms for infrastructure services.
  • Applications for sales or bookings, order taking, and invoicing.

What is the funding amount?

As noted above, the ESPA/NSRF program subsidizes up to 90% of expenses. The total budget is €180 million, split across 4 categories:

  • CATEGORY 1: Companies from 0.01 to 10 AWU: €90,000,000 – Maximum eligible expense: €2,000.
  • CATEGORY 2: Companies from 10 to 25 AWU: €40,000,000 – Maximum eligible expense: €6,000.
